English Championships
This year we took 5 students to the event. From Stortford, Oliver bland and Skye and Amber Cardwell, from Epping Jo Anderson, and from Harlow Linda Holland. Also doing Umpire duties on the day were were John Anderson, Nick Bailey, Linda Holland and Mick Sullivan.
Patterns were the first order of the day with Linda, Skye, Amber and Oliver all performing well but just off the medals. Jo came closest playing off joint 3rd/4th position and just losing out.
The first up to spar was Skye. She easily won her first round beating her shorter opponent with her extra reach. The semi final was a close affair and very cat and mouse finishing 0-0 and going to sudden death. Skye eventually getting the point needed.
The final was just as close again finishing 0-0
Sudden death again with Skye winning with a kick to the stomach to become English Champion.
Jo was up next, using single backfist and lead hand jabs she won both her rounds scoring without reply to pick up Gold in the Womens Green belt Excecutive division.
Oliver once again competed in both Individual and team sparring picking up Gold in the team and Bronze in the Cadet sparring light/heavyweight division.
Well done to everyone who competed on the day continuing our record of picking up silverware in every competition entered so far.
